According to news reports, a mob in the Upper Egyptian village of Al Our (the hometown of several of the martyred men) attacked the local Coptic church last Friday chanting that they would never allow construction of a new church to honor the martyrs.
Witnesses said some individuals threw Molotov cocktails and stones causing injuries to several people, and setting cars ablaze. Some protesters also appeared at the family home of one of the martyrs, Samuel Alham Wilson. However “in a gesture that provided some hope,” they were chased off by Muslim neighbors.
An Egyptian Christian Facebook page shows pictures of men wounded in the attack.
Please pray for comfort, peace and strength for the church in Egypt:
Psalm 91:1-2″ He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
