A Prayer for Pakistan

Pakistani Christians urgently need our prayers and support.

Two churches in a Christian neighbourhood of Lahore were bombed in coordinated attacks by the Taliban minutes apart during Sunday morning services this past weekend.
It now appears that seventeen worshippers were killed and over 70 wounded, but fortunately a volunteer security guard, at the cost of his life, managed to prevent one of the suicide bombers from entering the church where he would have caused much greater casualties.
Christians make up less than 2% of Pakistan’s population and many are among its poorest people.

Please pray:

• for those who have lost loved ones in these attacks, that they would be comforted as they mourn and that they would be able to show the love, mercy and forgiveness of Christ to their persecutors even in the midst of their great sorrow; (2 Cor. 1:4)

• for the Christian community in Pakistan, that they would be strong and courageous in the face of oppression and persecution and that they would not allow their actions to be determined by pain and anger but that through love and compassion they would be able to show their persecutors the way of peace;  (Joshua 1:9)

• for the Muslim extremists in Pakistan, that they would recognize the evil of their actions and turn from hatred and murder to seeking truth, peace, and forgiveness through the Prince of Peace. (Is. 9:6)

Persecuted Christians are dying every day.  They are in a very deep dark night, but they have the candle of the Lord.
The enemy can have a very strong weapon and a very strong army, but we have the Lord Almighty.

Be with God and may God be with you.
